An Optical Cuffless Non-Invasive Blood Pressure Sensor

Developed and produced by Sensors IC Lab (SiL). We use the optical sensor to measure blood pressure without cuff and body invasion. The overall system has been implemented on PCB then packaged into a hand-held device, which makes it portable and friendly to the user. Based on the device convenience, the user only needs to put the sensor attached to the skin on the radial artery, and the measurement will begin. The beam of LED induces through the skin, then the reflection and refraction received by PD will produce the original biomedical PPG signal. In order to obtain the analyzable signal for calculation, the signal is processed through the front-end readout circuit. On the other hand, there’s an auto-control feedback system which can modulate the LED source and gain of the system appropriately based on the signal quality. So, the dark skin color, weak signal or too strong signal are not problems in blood pressure measuring. After all, the processed signal is converted into digital data and sent to PC with wireless transmit circuit. The data is calculated with the algorithm developed by SiL, and we can derive the health information, including Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP), Diastolic BP (DBP) and Heart Rate (HR). At the meantime, the waveform is displayed on the PC for continuous time BP monitoring. With this device, we can easily know our body condition in any place.
